Privacy Policy
This notice explains personal information handling for this website, project enquiries, BOQ submissions, accounts, recruitment enquiries and communications. It addresses South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and additional data protection requirements where they apply. Last updated: 13 October 2026.
1. Responsible Party, Scope & Applicable Laws
Geosynthetics Africa (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party for personal information processed through this website for its own business purposes. Our head office is at 11 Arum Lily Street, Fisantekraal, Durbanville, Cape Town, 7550, South Africa. Privacy enquiries can be addressed to the Information Officer via info@geosyntheticsafrica.com or +27 72 343 0868. A subsidiary or other contracting entity may be responsible for its own quotation, contract or local employment records; that entity is identified in the relevant transaction or notice.
POPIA governs applicable South African processing. Additional national privacy and data protection requirements may apply to activities in other African jurisdictions. Where the EU/EEA General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), UK GDPR or other legislation applies to particular processing, the relevant legal requirements and rights also apply. Specific notices may supplement this one for particular services or transactions.
2. Information, Sources & Purposes
We collect information you submit when requesting a quote, uploading a BOQ or drawings, using an account, contacting us, enquiring about careers or subscribing to communications. It may include your name, business contact details, company, country, project location, specifications, correspondence and documents. Technical information such as IP address, browser or device details, access times and cookie preferences may be processed by the website and its service providers. We may also receive relevant contact or delivery details from your authorised colleagues, project partners or representatives.
The purposes are to answer enquiries, review project requirements, prepare proposals, arrange supply and delivery, coordinate installation and QA/QC, administer accounts and contracts, assess recruitment enquiries, protect the website and meet applicable legal obligations. Depending on the activity, processing requires an appropriate lawful basis, such as consent, steps requested before contracting, contract performance, a legal obligation or legitimate interests recognised by applicable law. Where legitimate interests are relied on, they concern responding to business enquiries, administering services and protecting operations, subject to your rights.
Submitting an enquiry or recruitment enquiry is voluntary. Required fields identify information needed to respond or provide the requested service; without it we may be unable to proceed. Optional marketing choices are separate from project enquiries. Please provide only necessary information and obtain appropriate authority before sending another person’s details. Do not include identity documents, financial credentials, health records or other sensitive information in an initial BOQ or enquiry.
3. Sharing, International Transfers & Service Providers
Personal information may be made available, where necessary for the relevant purpose, to authorised staff, the entity handling your project, manufacturers or suppliers, installation teams, freight carriers, customs agents, professional advisers and technology providers supporting hosting, storage, communications or security. Authorities may receive information where the law requires it. BOQs and drawings can contain confidential commercial information: disclose only what is needed and identify special confidentiality requirements before sharing. An enquiry does not authorise public use of your project documents as a case study.
Cross-border projects and technology services may involve processing outside South Africa, including in countries where suppliers, project teams or service providers operate. Protection may differ between countries. Transfers must meet section 72 of POPIA and other applicable transfer requirements, using an appropriate legal ground and safeguards such as an adequate level of protection under law or binding agreements, or another permitted ground. Where GDPR applies, its international transfer rules must also be addressed. You may request details of destinations, recipient categories and applicable safeguards for your information through the privacy contact channel.
4. Cookies, Marketing, Retention & Security
Cookies and similar technologies may support essential functions, security, preference storage and, where enabled, analytics or marketing. Use the website’s Cookie Preferences controls to review available categories and accept or decline optional choices. You may also manage cookies in your browser; blocking essential functions may affect accounts or forms. Embedded third-party services may process information under their own notices.
Electronic direct marketing must follow POPIA and any other applicable consent or permitted existing-customer rules. You may unsubscribe or ask us to stop marketing through the privacy contact channel. Sending a BOQ or asking for a quote does not by itself constitute consent to unrelated marketing.
Retention depends on the purpose, contractual needs, applicable accounting, tax, customs or employment requirements and legitimate dispute or legal record needs. Information should not be kept longer than necessary; deletion or de-identification is subject to lawful retention requirements. Applicable law requires reasonable technical and organisational safeguards and appropriate confidentiality obligations for service providers. No online system is risk-free. Suspected misuse can be reported through the privacy channel; security incidents must be assessed and notified to affected people and authorities where legally required.
5. Your Rights, Privacy Requests & Complaints
Subject to applicable legal conditions, you may request confirmation of processing and access to your information, correction of inaccurate details, and deletion or restriction where appropriate. You may object to relevant processing and direct marketing and withdraw consent where processing relies on it; withdrawal does not undo earlier lawful processing. Additional GDPR rights, including portability and protections concerning automated decisions, apply where that legislation applies and its conditions are met.
Send requests to info@geosyntheticsafrica.com with the subject “Privacy request — Information Officer”, or use our Contacts page or head office address above.
