Manufacturing & Fabrication
We manufacture and fabricate geosynthetic containment articles in our own Johannesburg facility - sewn geotextile, welded geomembrane and welded steel mesh. Sand containers, dewatering bags and tubes, reinforced silt fence and drainage filter socks; floating covers, pipe boots and prefabricated liner detail work in HDPE and LLDPE; welded mesh gabion baskets and mattresses to SANS 675. Every product available in custom sizes - a non-standard specification is a production run on our own machines, not a twelve-week import.
Service Overview
Geosynthetics Africa manufactures and fabricates geosynthetic containment articles in our own Johannesburg facility. Three production technologies under one roof: sewn geotextile, welded geomembrane and welded steel mesh. That covers sand containers, dewatering bags and tubes, reinforced silt fence and drainage filter socks; floating covers, pipe boots and prefabricated liner detail work in HDPE and LLDPE; and welded mesh gabion baskets and mattresses to SANS 675.
The commercial argument is lead time. A non-standard dimension, a heavier fabric grade on a standard footprint, a specific seam configuration or a different wire gauge is a production run on our own machines - typically days, against the eight to twelve weeks an imported equivalent takes to land. Projects rarely fail on the availability of a catalogue size; they fail when the drawing calls for something the catalogue does not carry and the programme cannot absorb an import cycle.
The engineering argument is the seam. Geotextile and geomembrane articles are fabricated from certified roll goods produced by the mill, and the mill certificate ships with every delivery. But a sand container does not fail through the fabric, a dewatering tube does not split down the middle of a panel, and a liner does not leak through the sheet. They fail at the closure. That is the part we make, and it is the part we test.
Every article is supplied with test data on the finished product rather than on the material alone. Sewn closures are verified to EN ISO 10319. Welded work is produced against trial welds tested at the start of each shift and at every change of operator or ambient condition, with fusion seams air pressure tested along their full length, extrusion seams and detail work vacuum box tested, and destructive samples taken at specified intervals and tested in peel and shear. Records are issued as a document set referenced to the as-built layout, with full batch traceability against delivery.
Where a specification falls outside the standard ranges, our engineering team works from design conditions - wave height, solids grading, retained load, soil grading, hydraulic head - and returns a fabrication specification rather than a catalogue match. Where a specification arrives incomplete, which is common on tender documents that name filled mass without opening size or seam strength, we flag the gaps and propose values rather than fill them in silently.
Because we fabricate and install, material, production, supply, installation and certification sit under one scope. Installation is executed by our own IAGI-aligned crews with photographic sign-off at every stage. When a seam is queried on site there is no supplier chain to work back through - the people who made it are the people who placed it.
Why Choose Geosynthetics Africa?
Days, Not Weeks
A custom size is a production run on our own machines, not a twelve-week import.
Three Technologies, One Facility
Sewn geotextile, welded geomembrane and welded steel mesh under one roof.
The Seam Is Ours
Mill certificates on the parent material, seam and weld test data on the finished article.
Specification, Not Catalogue Match
We work from design conditions and return a fabrication specification.
Manufactured And Installed
Same company fabricates and installs, under IAGI-aligned QA/QC with photographic sign-off.
