| Benefits of using Pipes, Drainage & Ducting

One supply source for five drainage families

GeoPipe™, GeoStruct™, GeoDuct™, GeoDrain™ and GSE® Hypernet supplied from a single account, single logistics chain and single technical support team. Simplifies procurement, reduces lead time risk and ensures product compatibility across complex drainage system specifications.

Engineered chemical and UV resistance

All HDPE and polyolefin products are manufactured from virgin polymer with 0.8–2.5% carbon black content for UV stabilisation. Resistant to acids, alkalis, oils and solvents across pH 4–9. Rated for buried service lives of 50–100 years depending on grade — documented in product data sheets and confirmed by independent testing.

Containment-grade drainage performance

GeoDrain™ LD drainage cores retain over 87% of their original thickness at 500 kPa after 100 years in service - independently tested to ASTM D7361. In-plane flow capacities of 0.54–2.10 l/(m·s) at relevant hydraulic gradients ensure leachate and drainage water is conveyed reliably under the most demanding liner system loads.

Pan-African availability and logistics

Standard drainage board, geocomposite and pipe lines are held ex-stock for rapid dispatch. Project quantities are sourced and consolidated through our regional logistics network. We supply and support projects across 30+ African countries - from South Africa and Mozambique to Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria.

| Frequently Asked Questions about Pipes, Drainage & Ducting

What is the difference between GeoDrain™ CR and GeoDrain™ GR?
GeoDrain™ CR (Civil Range) is a 10 mm dimpled drainage board for civil subsurface drainage applications — basement walls, retaining walls and podium decks — where the primary function is to drain water away from the structure. GeoDrain™ GR (Green Roof) is a 20 mm perforated board specifically designed for green roof assemblies: it stores 6.0 litres/m² of water in its reservoirs to sustain plant growth during dry periods, while draining excess water through perforations in the top surface. The two products serve fundamentally different functions and are not interchangeable.
What is GeoDrain™ LD and where is it used?
GeoDrain™ LD is a high-strength cuspated HDPE drainage core used as a leak detection and drainage layer between geomembrane liners in landfill cells, heap leach containment systems and other lined facilities. It sits between a primary and secondary geomembrane, maintaining a drainage channel under high compressive loads so that any leakage through the primary liner is detected, collected and conveyed to a sump — preventing undetected environmental release.
Do the GeoDrain™ geocomposites come with a geotextile filter layer?
GeoDrain™ CR and GR include a heat-bonded PP nonwoven geotextile on one face as standard. GeoDrain™ LD drainage cores are available as bare drainage cores or with a heat-bonded geotextile; the appropriate configuration depends on the liner system design. Geotextile opening size is approximately 110 microns with water permeability of 80 × 10⁻³ m/s.
GeoPipe™ be supplied without a filter sock?
Yes. GeoPipe™ is available both bare and with a factory-fitted geotextile filter sock. The sock specification depends on the surrounding soil particle size distribution — our technical team can assist with sock selection based on the project soil grading. Factory-fitted socks are recommended over site-wrapped solutions for consistent filter coverage and installation speed.
What certifications do the GeoDrain™ products carry?
GeoDrain™ CR and GR carry CE certification to DIN EN 13252. GeoDrain™ LD drainage cores carry CE certification to EN 13252 . All product technical data sheets are available for download in the Resources section.

| Specifications for Installing Pipes, Drainage & Ducting

Drainage board orientation and overlap - GeoDrain™ CR and GR boards must be installed with the dimple cups facing the structure (drainage face toward the wall or substrate) and the geotextile facing the soil or growing medium. Rolls are lapped a minimum of 100 mm at all joints with geotextile-to-geotextile continuity maintained across overlaps. Boards should be covered within two weeks of installation to prevent UV degradation.

GeoDrain™ LD installation between liners - GeoDrain™ LD drainage cores are installed between primary and secondary geomembranes in the liner system configuration, with the cuspated face providing the drainage channel. The core provides a smooth contact interface against both adjacent geomembranes. Flow is directed toward collection sumps in the machine direction. GeoDrain products should be covered within 28 days of installation. Storage and handling guidelines available on request.

GeoPipe™ installation and bedding - GeoPipe™ must be bedded in clean, angular granular material (typically 13–20 mm crusher run or equivalent) with minimum 100 mm surround above, below and to each side of the pipe barrel. Backfill must be placed in compacted layers to prevent pipe deformation. Where geotextile filter socks are not factory-fitted, the pipe trench should be lined with an appropriate nonwoven geotextile before granular fill placement.

Storage and handling — all drainage products - All HDPE drainage rolls and pipe should be stored in a dry, cool location in original packaging, protected from direct UV exposure and direct heat sources. Rolls should be transported and stored vertically — never stacked horizontally on top of each other. Pallets should not be stacked. Drainage boards and geocomposites should be covered immediately after laying if they will not be backfilled within two weeks.
