| About Permeable Paving Systems
Choose permeable paving for a stable gravel driveway, reinforced grass parking or a defined landscape border. BERA's systems address loose gravel movement, vulnerable lawns and separate-component handling. Their permeable surfaces can support sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) where the foundation, soil and drainage outlet are designed for rainfall. One partner coordinates the materials and installation across Africa.
BERA Gravel Fix® Pro combines a 32 mm polypropylene honeycomb grid with factory-attached 68 g/m² DuPont™ Typar® geotextile. The cells confine gravel; the overlapping membrane lips help retain infill, separate it from bedding and reduce weeds. Pro panels cover 0.9 m², with XL and XXL formats at 1.8 and 2.7 m². Empty vertical strength is 120 t/m² white or 95 t/m² grey/black; installed strength exceeds 450 t/m² depending on gravel. Use 3-16 mm gravel, or well-compacted 3-6 mm for accessible paths. BERA documents Gravel Fix installations in 47+ countries across five continents.
BERA® Grass Fix Eco+ is a recycled HDPE grass reinforcement grid for green parking, overflow car parks, grass driveways and access routes. Lateral openings support root growth, while secure interlocks and underside anchors help resist movement. Panels measure 550 x 380 x 31 mm, or 51 mm including anchors, and cover 0.21 m². BERA reports 170 t/m² empty strength under EN 124-1:2017. The open grid has no attached Typar membrane. Specify separate foundation geotextile where required and maintain locally suitable grass.
BERA® Stable Fix Eco uses 500 x 500 mm interlocking panels in 40 or 50 mm depths, filled with gravel, angular stone, grass or soil. Five models have different wall thicknesses, weights and strength values. SF-ECO-40 is up to 350 t/m² empty and 900 t/m² gravel-filled; SF-ECO-50 is up to 400 and 1,000 respectively. Higher 50HD values must not be assigned to standard models. Foundation geotextile, edging and infill are specified separately. Eco Edge complements landscape packages with recycled-plastic border restraint; confirm the detail for the intended use.

Interlocking 40 or 50 mm panels for project-specific parking, access and equestrian surfaces. Compare all five models using the manufacturer table; laboratory strengths are not permissible vehicle loads.

Permeable grids allow water through the surface. Foundation, soil, rainfall and outlet capacity determine site performance. The Pro geotextile value of 180 l/(m²·s) is not a guaranteed installed infiltration rate.
Environmental declarations for specification
Gravel Fix white/grey and Grass Fix Eco+ have published EPDs. These verify life-cycle environmental information, rather than structural strength or automatic green-building credits. Request the applicable Stable Fix declaration for reporting.

| Specifications for Installing Permeable Paving Systems
BERA Gravel Fix Pro: use a foundation designed for soil, drainage and traffic. The general guide gives 100 mm bedding for paths, or 150-250 mm crushed stone plus 40-60 mm bedding for vehicles. Install suitable edging, overlap membrane lips and trim panels. Use 3-16 mm gravel with 15-20 mm coverage above cells; keep covered through raking and topping up. Foundation geotextile may be required.
BERA Grass Fix Eco+: the general guide uses a 200-400 mm compacted base, separate 300-500 g/m² nonwoven geotextile for vehicle use and 50-70 mm bedding. Design these layers for the site. Allow at least 50 mm at fixed boundaries for thermal movement, interlock panels and select locally suitable grass and growing medium. Establish and maintain the vegetation before vehicle use.
BERA Stable Fix Eco: its separate guide specifies foundation geotextile and compacted aggregate layers designed for loading, with 10-20 mm bedding. Retain at least 50 mm clearance at fixed elements. Lay connected panels, assess additional anchoring on slopes and use 3-20 mm gravel or the specified grass growing medium. Filled strengths depend on infill and compaction. Follow BERA SC-SFE_EN-02-26 rather than the Grass Fix build-up.
