What IAGI Is - and Why It Matters on Your Project
The International Association of Geosynthetics Installers (IAGI) is the global authority on geosynthetic installation standards, practices, and quality assurance. Founded and governed by leading geosynthetic engineers and installation professionals worldwide, IAGI develops the installation guidelines that define how geomembranes, GCLs, geogrids, and geotextiles must be installed to perform as designed. IAGI Installer Membership is not a training certificate and not a product endorsement. It is a company-level recognition awarded to geosynthetic installation companies that meet verified requirements across corporate history, business practices, insurance coverage, safety systems, and demonstrated installation competence. In Africa, very few companies have met this standard. Geosynthetics Africa is one of them. When an engineer, owner, or regulator requires a verifiable installation standard - not a self-declared one - IAGI Installer Membership is the benchmark that provides that assurance.
What IAGI Installer Membership Means for Your Project
Internationally Benchmarked Installation Procedures
Every Geosynthetics Africa installation follows IAGI geosynthetic installation guidelines - the same procedures used by the world's leading geosynthetic engineering companies on the most critical containment, reinforcement, and drainage projects globally. These are not internal checklists. They are internationally recognised protocols developed by engineers and practitioners from across the industry.
Verified Company-Level Competence
IAGI Installer Membership requires demonstrated competence across four verified areas: corporate history and business practices, insurance and liability coverage, safety training and site management systems, and professional installation experience. This assessment is conducted at company level - it cannot be purchased, self-declared, or substituted with a product approval.
Manufacturer QA Programmes trained Installation Teams
Our welding technicians are factory-trained for the respective product manufacturers - Solmax for GSE® geomembranes, Eurobent for GCLs, Tensar for geogrids. This means the people installing your system are trained for the standards expected not a generic competency framework.
Documented QA on Every Project - Without Exception
IAGI membership is a commitment that applies to every project, regardless of size, location, or client. Every Geosynthetics Africa installation is governed by the IAGI installation QA framework - pre-installation inspection, formal subgrade acceptance, trial welds before every shift, 100% seam testing, and a complete handover dossier. The standard does not change based on project value or remoteness of site.
A Handover Dossier That Stands Up to Scrutiny
Every project closes with a complete, signed handover dossier - as-built drawings, seam test logs, material certificates, repair records, and a conformance statement. This is the document an engineer, auditor, or regulator needs to verify that your containment, reinforcement, or drainage system was installed to an internationally recognised standard. It exists on every project. It is available on request.
Consistent Standard Across 30+ African Countries
Whether your project is in South Africa, Zambia, DRC, Tanzania, Mozambique, Ghana, or Angola - the same IAGI-aligned QA framework applies. Same procedures. Same testing protocols. Same documentation standard. Same handover dossier. The only thing that changes is the site location.

What IAGI Membership Is - and What It Is Not
IAGI does not certify individual products, individual welds, or individual installations. IAGI recognises installation companies that meet its verified standards for competence, professionalism, safety, and business practice - and that commit to applying IAGI installation guidelines on every project they execute. This means IAGI Installer Membership is a commitment made by Geosynthetics Africa as a company - not a claim attached to a specific product or project. It means the framework governing your installation has been assessed against an international benchmark. It means the company executing your project follows globally recognised and respected installation standards. Manufacturer product warranties and certifications remain governed by their respective terms and are separate from IAGI membership. On every Geosynthetics Africa project, both apply.
