Waterproofing & Concrete Protection
CureLock™ Concrete Curing Hessian (Burlap)
Concrete curing hessian woven from 100% natural jute, in 213 g/m² Standard and 270 g/m² Heavy Duty grades, meeting AASHTO M 182 for burlap used in concrete curing. Used on slabs, columns, bridges and pavements, with optional polythene capping to ASTM C171 for water-scarce sites. Supplied, installed and QA/QC-verified to ACI 308 curing practice on concrete projects across Africa.
Overview
CureLock™ Concrete Curing Hessian is a woven jute cloth made for one job: keeping fresh concrete wet while it cures. Soaked and laid over slabs or wrapped around columns, it holds a film of water on the concrete surface so the cement hydrates fully, reaching its design strength without shrinkage cracks or weak, dusty surfaces. Industry guidance from the Portland Cement Association notes that wet coverings like hessian outperform curing compounds, because they keep the concrete continually damp instead of only slowing moisture loss. The material has its own specification for this use: AASHTO M 182, for burlap cloth made from jute or kenaf.
Choose from two grades. CureLock 213 Standard (213 g/m²) is light and easy to handle, and suits columns, beams, walls, stairs and small to medium slabs. CureLock 270 Heavy Duty (270 g/m²) is a denser, stronger weave that holds more water, so it is the better choice for large slabs, pavements, bridge decks and pours in hot, dry or windy conditions. Both come in 1015 mm wide rolls, with other widths and lengths available on request.
Every roll is checked on arrival against its mill certificate for grade, width and cleanliness, and new cloth is rinsed in clean water before use, as ACI 308 and PCA guidance require, so it absorbs water evenly and will not stain the concrete. For sites where water is scarce, CureLock can be capped with polythene sheeting to ASTM C171, which holds moisture in the cloth and cuts how often it must be rewetted.
Buy CureLock as supply only, or as a complete concrete curing service. Our trained crews install the hessian, keep it wet for the full specified curing period (a minimum of 7 days for most structural concrete above 5°C), log every pour and hand over a signed curing record pack. That gives your engineer and client documented proof that the concrete was cured to specification.

Typical Applications
View all applicationsBuildings & Commercial Construction
Wet-curing slabs, columns, beams and stairs on high-rise, residential and commercial projects to reach full design strength and prevent cracking.
Roads & Highways
Curing concrete pavements, kerbs and drainage channels, where large exposed surfaces dry fast under sun and wind.
Bridges & Flyovers
Curing decks, piers and abutments for a dense, low-permeability surface that protects the reinforcement from corrosion.
Water & Wastewater Infrastructure
Curing reservoirs, tanks and treatment plants, where watertight, crack-free concrete is critical.
Ports & Marine Structures
Curing quay walls, jetties and coastal structures that must resist chlorides and sea spray for decades.
Compatible Systems

213 g/m² plain-weave jute hessian to IS 2818 Type I. A lighter, easy-to-handle cloth for columns, beams, walls, stairs and small to medium slabs. Wraps tightly around irregular shapes
CureLock 270 Heavy Duty

Installation Guidance
Standard Method Statement
Step 1 – Supply and Prepare - Every roll is checked against its IS 2818 mill certificate for grade, width and cleanliness. New hessian is rinsed in clean water before use, and clean curing water, hoses and polythene covers are ready before the pour begins.
Step 2 – Install and Keep Wet. As soon as the concrete can take the cloth without marking, pre-soaked hessian is laid on slabs or wrapped around columns, with 150 mm overlaps and every edge covered. It stays wet, never allowed to dry out, for at least 7 days above 5°C, or longer if the project specification requires it.
Step 3 – Verify and Hand Over. Our supervisor logs every pour daily, recording the times the cloth was rewetted, the weather and photos, and fixes any dry spots immediately. At completion you receive a curing record pack with certificates, logs and sign-off as documented proof of proper curing.
